Gonna sound fairly Cliche but this is the holy grail.
I typically am a 1 or 5 star reviewer. There is the in between but no point letting others know how “content” you are with something. Anyways,
Pros:
Compact
Solid
Trusted brand – military and law enforcement trust Leupold
FAST – really fast
Cons:
CR2 Lithium battery – plan stocking a backup before needing one.
Keeping it short. It does exactly what is says it does. It’s really fast, once to power on and another to clock a distance. scan mode works well and it beeps to confirm lock-in…optional beep btw.
average sized hands and it fits perfectly and the top (range-finding) button is located conveniently on top. No complaints other than the funky battery format, but there is a BatteriesPlus down the street and they are $5-7 on amazon. No biggie.
There is a quirk to this, not because of the product but because we are humans. Most people hold rangefinders with their right hand to the right eye. You should hold the rangefinder further away from your face (middle finger to operation top button) and rest your right hand on your nose and use your left eye (or vice versa). It is much more stable.
Although relatively expensive, if you are serious about golf, just buy it, it will stay in your bag longer than your equipment (if you are anything like me) and I can’t imagine rangefinders being much faster than this. It is almost instantaneous. The bells and whistles will have better features over time (GX-4i and so on) but they are illegal for play…Trust me, they are illegal for tournament and handicap posting.
Hope this helps
